My unreliable MacBook Pro 2016

My MacBook Pro late 2016 (with the TouchBar) is a great disappointment. On top of questionable design choices, I’m facing two issues:

  1. Frequent freezes when resuming from screen sleep, specially when plugged to LG 4k display

  2. Failure to connect to WiFi when booting up with some device attached

For a change, I’ve made two (boring) videos demonstrating the issue.

Resume from sleep freeze
WiFi issues

Needless to stay, I’ve spent a lot of time with the friendly Apple support (chat or phone), and I’ve tried several manipulations in order to troubleshoot the issue.

Eventually the laptop has been brought to the Apple store for repair. It will be 7 days tomorrow and still no news from Apple. In the meantime, I’m glad I held on to my old-and-faithful MBP mid 2012 Retina.

But I question the reliability of this model, and maybe of the next one, as a colleague with a MBP early 2017 also has USB-C connectivity issues with his LG 4k display. That would be an amazing coincidence if the MBP had actually no design issue.
